Audio Bridge Dedicated Port Service

What Is It?
The Audio Bridge Dedicated Port Service (DPS) will enable Government agencies to reserve audio conferencing ports for their exclusive use.

What's it For?
The audio bridge ports can be used for both scheduled and unscheduled conference calls and to establish emergency audio conferences as part of a Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan. Customers will access the bridge via direct dial-in.

In addition, VTS applications support distance learning in classrooms around the world. Medical students can witness a new surgical procedure without stepping foot into the operating room, and one professor can simultaneously address students in hundreds of classrooms.

How It Works
The service will be ordered through the WITS2001 Audio Teleconferencing Service (ATS), as provided under the WITS2001 Contract. ATS will dedicate a group of ports to a customer for a minimum period on a monthly, flat rate basis. The WITS2001 ATS group has reserved back-up ports outside the National Capital Region to be made available should an incident impact the operability of the primary dedicated ports. This will guarantee access to the number of ports in the selected group day or night, 365 days a year. Agencies will be able to control and schedule their own dedicated bridge resources or can use the attendant services of the ATS group during normal business hours.

The type of conference setup will be a dialed, incoming "Meet-Me" unattended conference. Agencies can control and schedule their own dedicated bridge resources and notify conferees of the time and date of the conference.

How You Benefit
The benefits of the Audio Bridge DPS include the following:

Software updates will be automatic and maintenance is included.
The bridge is supported by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
The same telephone number will be used each time the customer wishes to establish a conference.
Users will enter a passcode that is unique for each customer.
Conference chairperson can dial-in additional conferees (up to authorized conference limits), talk off-line with conferees, and drop conferees.
The dedicated audio conference ports will be available upon demand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Subscribing agencies may add additional ports by notifying ATS during normal business hours at least 24 hours before the conference begins. The addition of these ports will be based on availability of bridge resources and charged as normal, non-dedicated audio ports.
Subscribing agencies do not need to make additional capital investments for bridging equipment. Bridge expenses will be predictable and thus able to be budgeted.
